LS Mtron’s New LSG-V Vertical IMMs installed by Minnesota, North Carolina customers

The newest vertical injection molding machines (IMM) from LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines USA are already proving popular, with the NPE 2024 exhibition machine being sold, along with several others The LS Mtron LSG-V models have recently been installed in customer facilities in New Hampshire, Minnesota, North Carolina, Illinois, and Mexico and will be used for automotive, industrial, and medical molding applications.

These machines reduce operating and maintenance costs by minimizing cooling water, tank size and oil lines. Optimized hydraulic oil tanks and lines cut operating flow by approximately 45% and cooling water consumption by about 30%. The resulting lower operating and maintenance costs mean improved sustainability.

Previously available in three models from 100 to 350 tons, and only as vertical rotary machines, the expanded LSG-V line features 13 models ranging from 40-660 tons of clamping force. Options include vertical or horizontal injection, rotary table and shuttle or single-station designs. An available electric injection unit minimizes defect rates.

“The LSG-V is a ‘smart’ hybrid machine with advanced production capabilities, a compact footprint and an environmentally responsible approach to plastics processing,” explained Peter Gardner, President of LS Mtron Injection Molding Machine USA. “With its precision and energy efficiency, the LSG-V line gives customers superior molding capabilities compared to other vertical injection molding machines. “Intuitive and easy to operate, it also includes new operator safety features.”

The LSG-V Series lets operators simultaneously perform product take-out and insertion processes during injection, reducing cycle time. Servo motors and drivers ensure precision and fewer product defects. The four-post tie-bar structure offers outstanding durability and stability. Users gain capacity with support for up to four injection fixtures, and the slide-type guide bar design minimizes transfer resistance. A wide range of injection specifications, such as speed and pressure, address a broad range of customer needs.

Other benefits include:

- Less power use thanks to a servo pump system that provides 65-75% better performance than a standard hybrid machine.

- Excellent reproducibility (within 0.1%) through feedback control in a closed-loop system that uses a high-powered AC servo motor.

- Low noise because of the precision rotation motor.

- Low bed rotary table.

- 1.9-second rotating speed in 180 degree rotation.

- Adjustable-height KEBA controller.

Outside North America, the line is known as the WIZ-VR II.

“The expansion of the LSG-V line demonstrates LS Mtron’s continued commitment to finding unique solutions for customers to meet changing business conditions like ESG and technology trends including the digital transformation of manufacturing,” Gardner said. “We will continue to introduce high-productivity injection molding machines with eco-friendly operation to promote a sustainable future and help customers achieve their environmental goals.”
