Structure and Features of Electric Injection Molding Machine
Today, along with the advance of a variety of raw materials for plastics, plastic molding machines using those materials have been developed.
Typical plastic manufacturing equipment is an injection molding machine.
The development of technologies for the injection molding machine has made it possible to produce more durable and delicate plastic goods at a faster pace, leading to a great deal of progress made in many industries, such as automotive, electrical and electronic, consumer goods, construction and aerospace.
Early injection molding machines were manually controlled to mold products. However, recent advances of hydraulic injection molding machines, hybrid injection molding machines and electric injection molding machines have contributed to higher productivity by minimizing the time and energy consumption by human beings.
Electric injection molding machines have recently been sold in huge volume. Their market share is expected to continue to increase thanks to their advantages such as energy efficiency, precision and higher stability.
For this reason, LS Mtron provides a series of articles on the electric injection molding machine to help its customers easily understand the machine’s structure and features.

1. Clamping Unit
The Clamping Unit comprises a Fixing Die, a Clamping Part Assembly of a Moving Die and a Mold Height Assembly capable of changing Mold Thickness and is designed to maintain Clamping Force.
The Tie Bar of an electric injection molding machine is extended when Clamping Force is applied, and the power generated in the process maintains the Clamping Force in the mold to prevent resins from leaking.
Importantly, all the four Tie Bars must have the same extension rate. Even a single Tie Bar which is unbalanced could cause product defects and damage to the device

1.1 Clamping Part Assembly
The Servo Motor is driven after molding to convert rotational motion to rectilinear motion by using the Ball Screw and the Moving Platen moves by a 5-point Toggle Link System.

1.2 Mold Height Assembly
The Mold Height Assembly consists of a Rear Platen capable of changing Mold Thickness, Gear-like components and a Geared Motor, and is automatically adjusted to maintain a designated Clamping Force if the mold is connected to the platen.

1.3 Ejector Parts Assembly
The Ejector Parts Assembly is designed to work in a way that the Moving Platen moves backwards when the product molding is completed and that the Servo Motor and Ball Screw are used to eject the product
