LS Mtron"s practical and smart solution for the injection molding industry!

LS Mtron Co., Ltd.(LS Mtron) took a step towards engaging with customers at the 27th Korea International Plastics & Rubber Show(KOPLAS 2023), held at the KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Goyang City. The event ran for five days, from March 14(Tuesday) to March 18(Saturday), 2023, during which LS Mtron presented practical and informative exhibitions.

The exhibition focused on presenting LS Mtron"s unique solutions that enable customers to respond to changes in the business environment in line with contemporary trends, such as ESG and Digital Transformation. At the event, LS Mtron showcased its injection molding machines, which feature eco-friendly and high-productivity solutions, attracting the attention of visitors.

For the injection molding industry’s response to environmentally friendly approaches, LS Mtron manufactured eco-friendly products through special solution(multicolor, MuCell®, etc.) and developed and showcased AI technology for digital transformation.

■ Eco-friendly smart solution in the injection molding industry with LS Mtron! 

The plastics industry is driven by ESG management and tackling common challenges such as Circular Economy, Digital Transformation, and Eco-Friendly solutions.

To address these issues, LS Mtron established an industry-leading digital solution hall to implement digital solutions. The hall not only showcases smart products but also provides an experience center where customers can interact with them, providing a full-experience for the visitors to observe LS Mtron"s Industry 4.0-compliant smart solutions.

LS Mtron showcased several injection molding machines at the exhibition, including the WIZ 900 PMC, WIZ-170T Plus, the ONE*-130E, WIZ-280E Plus, the ONE*-280E, and WIZ-150VR. The WIZ 900 PMC uses a sandwich method technology, which involves a virgin material for the surface layer and recycled material for the core. This solution demonstrated solid electric vehicle interior materials in terms of exterior quality and product strength, which drew attention from the visitors during the injection and demonstration process.

The WIZ-170T Plus showcased LS Mtron"s unique AI technology, which was introduced for the first time in Korea. It enables a stable injection environment when using new and recycled materials. The injection molding of spiral specimen molds with the WIZ-170T Plus demonstrated LS Mtron"s artificial intelligence weight control(AI Weight Control) technology. This technology detects changes in the weight of the molded product with a weight meter linked to the molding machine and automatically adjusts the conditions to maintain normal weight.

the ONE*-130E is an ultra-high-speed packaging premium electric injection molding machine that can stably mold a 4-cavity container in just 2.8 seconds. This machine boasts high reproducibility and perfect surface treatment technology due to its high-precision injection capabilities. Another new product, the WIZ-280E Plus, was also unveiled at the event. This machine utilizes MuCell®, a microcellular foam that enables foam molding and satisfies both moldability and energy saving, and garnered significant attention at the event.

LS Mtron also implements a post-process of attaching labels to the surface of products using the ONE*-280E. This method improves productivity and reduces losses that may occur during the transportation and attachment of products. They introduced the mold labeling method for this process. Additionally, the WIZ-150VR is a low-floor vertical injection molding machine designed with the convenience and safety of workers in mind. It features a hybrid system that offers a differentiated molding capability from existing vertical injection molding machines, providing both precision and energy savings.

■ LS Mtron advances to global leadership by strengthening its competitiveness in smart factory solutions!

Despite the economic contraction caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, LS Mtron has been busy in 2021 and 2022. This is due to the rapid growth of LS Mtron"s injection business since 2019, which is a result of steady investment and activities aimed at increasing operational efficiency.

A correspondent for LS Mtron said "Global orders, including the U.S., have been soaring, and all corporations, including headquarters, China(MW), and North America(IU), have been integrated into the same system across all areas of sales, development, production, quality, and service." The correspondent also expressed goals for 2023: “Despite a challenging business environment, LS Mtron aims to achieve growth this year by expanding into the high-priced market and special equipment market while increasing overseas sales.” 

Following, the correspondent said "We plan to achieve this by expanding into the premium market and special purpose equipment market, and increasing overseas sales despite the sluggish domestic market environment. Specifically, we expect that the establishment of a corporation, the acquisition of a sales corporation(DJA), and the recruitment of prominent individuals in the North American market, all of which we have been steadily preparing for, will lead to sales growth." 

LS Mtron is committed to providing not only high-quality products but also collaborative solutions with its customers. With its CSI(Connected Smart Injection), which leads Industry 4.0, the company is able to realize smart injection molding. In particular, the company plans to make a serious entry into the vertical injection molding machine market with its lineup of vertical injection molding machines, which it has not entered before. It is expected that the electric premium the ONE*-E will be well received by the market.

LS Mtron has announced its plans to focus on developing customer solution products, expanding its range of large hydraulic multi-color injection molding machine models, and developing smart product solutions such as parts diagnosis services. The company is developing Smart Machine, Smart Product, and Smart Service products in order, with the parts diagnosis service being the final product. By providing differentiated solutions, LS Mtron plans to expand its customer base and market.

LS Mtron is set to commence operations at its second plant in April, which was under construction since last year. The new facility is expected to accommodate the growing demand and support its role as a global production base by enabling effective responses to market needs.
